We have just completed the first week of camping at Cowichan. This year we combined all elementary school children and it was a great success! There were almost 70 campers this year. The weather was amazing, with many hours spent at the river. We had crazy hair day, a carnival and plenty of wide games. Twenty-four children committed their lives to Jesus! Praise God! Many others recommitted their lives to the Lord. The teaching this week focused on Romans5:1. All the kids came home with a DVD of camp memories, the latest Fridays Cry EP "The Bridge" and a free children's ticket to theupcoming "Alive Inside" FEST on July 31.

This week while there are no campers, many work projects are taking place such as new windows in a few cabins and a new re-frigeration system in the walk-in cooler.

1st Youth & Family camp is booked, aside from Youth and some RV spots available. There is still room in 2nd Youth& Family camp. We hope to see you at camp this summer. For those who cannot come, we would so appreciate your prayers.

Camp history and purpose:

The first meeting of the Cowichan River Apostolic Bible Camp was held in July 1955, on its present location.

A group of Pastors and Laymen under the leadership of Rev. R L Dean, saw a need for a camp on Vancouver Island, that would also involve the lower Mainland area. As so often happens when there is a vision, the way was soon made possible to purchase thirty-eight acres of land west of Duncan, BC. The site is located on Riverbottom Road, at that time it included two buildings; a beautiful log lodge, and a storage shed that boasted a water tower on its roof.

In 1970 an additional forty-two acres were purchased directly across the Cowichan River from the original property. A suspension bridge was approved by the Department of Transport and constructed by volunteer help in 1971.

The blessing of the Lord has rested upon the Camp down through the years. It would be difficult to estimate how many people have committed their lives to Christ, been filled with the Holy Spirit, or experienced a call to Gospel work, been encouraged to serve the Lord better and we could go on. Suffice to say, we give the Lord praise and thanks for allowing this facility to be used for God.

The Camp is a part of a Fellowship of Churches known as the Apostolic Church of Pentecost of Canada Inc. The Camp is administered by a Board of Pastors and Laymen from churches on the Island and Lower Mainland area.
